Privacy Policy
Your privacy is our foundation. PillScanner is designed with privacy-first principles. We don't store your images, and we don't require accounts. Every scan is processed in real-time and immediately forgotten. We use anonymous analytics to improve the service, but your scans and images are never tracked or linked to you.
1. Information We DON'T Collect
Unlike most services, we explicitly DON'T collect:
- Personal identification information
- Email addresses or phone numbers
- Location data or IP addresses for identification (analytics IPs are anonymized)
- Device identifiers or fingerprints
- Any form of user accounts or profiles
2. How Your Scans Work
When you upload an image for scanning:
- Processing: Your image is processed in real-time to identify visual matches
- Immediate Deletion: The image is deleted immediately after processing (within seconds)
- No Storage: We do not store, archive, or retain any uploaded images
- No Association: Scans are not linked to any user identity
- No History: We don't maintain any history of your searches or results
3. Technical Privacy Measures
We implement multiple technical safeguards:
- Encryption: All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
- No Persistent Storage: Images exist only in temporary memory during processing
- No Logging: We don't log image data or search queries
- Local Processing: Where possible, processing happens in your browser
4. Laboratory Database
The pill identification database contains:
- Publicly available laboratory test results from verified sources
- No personal information about substance submitters
- Only aggregate, anonymized data from testing facilities
5. Third-Party Services
We minimize third-party service usage:
- Hosting: Our service is hosted on privacy-respecting infrastructure
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics (GA4) with IP anonymization enabled and cookieless mode where possible. This collects anonymous usage data (page views, button clicks, scroll depth) to help us improve the service. No scan images or results are included in analytics data. You can opt out by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser.
- No Social Media Integration: No Facebook, Twitter, or other social tracking
6. Data Retention
We have a zero-retention policy:
- Images are deleted immediately after processing (typically 1-3 seconds)
- No search history is maintained
- No user profiles or accounts exist to store data
- Server logs, if any, contain no personally identifiable information
7. Your Rights
Since we don't collect personal data:
- There's no personal data to request or delete
- There's no profile to modify or export
- You're automatically "forgotten" after each scan
- You can disable analytics by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser
8. Legal Compliance
